2 Days Deep Dive Training on Waste Wise Cities Tool by UN-Habitat

On 3 and 4 February, 2021, UN-Habitat and Wasteaware hosted the Two-Day Deep Dive Training on the Waste Wise Cities Tool (WaCT). The training was hosted on the videoconferencing application Zoom and was available in both English and French.

The Deep Dive Training featured presentations from experts in the WaCT methodology, as well as videos summarizing each step in the guide. Participants were invited to contribute to a group discussion to share their thoughts on how the WaCT may be useful to them. 
 

Safe Management of Landfill in Addis Ababa by JICA & UN-Habitat

In December 2018, JICA and UN-Habitat co-organized a 5 days training on safe management of landfill in Addis Ababa. The training programme included lectures and on-site training at Koshe Dumpsite, where UN-Habitat was implementing the rehabilitation of collapsed slope. UN-Habitat expert team provided lecture series on landfill management for different technological options. Participants also visited newly constructed Waste to Energy Plant and plastic recycling companies in Addis Ababa and learned from their experiences. 30 waste management officers from 14 ACCP members benefitted from this study tour.

Solid Waste Management Training Courses by JICA

JICA provides comprehensive solid waste management training under “Knowledge Co-Creation Programme for African countries”, every year in English and French, through collaboration with Yokohama City. The training consists of series of lectures, site visits, and action planning activity and participants learn not only from Japanese experience but also through the interaction with other participants. Although participants are usually invited to JICA Yokohama training centre the training programme, it has been online due to the COVID-19 pandemic since 2020. More details on the JICA website.
